Progressive Democrats of Tennessee
Congressional District 8
Most of our activism these days (summer 2018) is within our county Democratic Parties, working to elect as many progressives as we can to positions in all levels of government for West Tennessee. Go to www.mcdptn.org for a look at what the Madison County DP has been up to. Also visit the Indivisible Jackson site, and visit Madison Area Democratic Women on Facebook.
Are you a Republican who has come to question your party's commitment to average people? Are you a progressive tired of Democratic Party politics as usual that leaves us out of the picture? Are you determined to fight for working and poor people of all races and creeds? Do you want the Democratic Party to fight the way FDR fought, against inequality and for all Americans? YOU HAVE FOUND THE PLACE to effect change in West Tennessee!
News! Progressive Dems are OUT AND ABOUT, organizing and participating in marches, and throwing support to those who are the victims of the Oligarchy:
@realdonaldtrump Make good on your promise not to cut Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security - BE A GREAT PRESIDENT!
Essential Health Benefit protections for pregnant women = maternity benefits + presc drugs. 13 mil lose coverage.
Single payer, not for profit, government run, expanded, MEDICARE FOR ALL - the best thing for all of us!
LOTS OF LITTLE TWEETS MADE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!
Monday, July 3, 3pm, we had a MEET AND TWEET, at Starbuck's, 2034 Highland (across from Old Hickory Mall) - we sent tweets to Senators and others about healthcare, working to create dialogue with those who disagree with us!
@realdonaldtrump, protect access to Medicaid - 51% of rural Tennessee children rely on it! #saveourhealthcare!
66% of nursing home patients get funded thru Medicaid - Home nursing is way too expensive, and families can't do it themselves. Save it!
GREAT CROWD at the HEALTHCARE RALLY organized by the Madison County Democratic Party, June 28, 2017. The inscription over the door to the courthouse is from Cicero, De Legibus (On the Law): "The welfare of the people is the highest law." About 100 people were in attendance (more behind the cameras). Indeed! Scroll down for the Jackson Sun's coverage of the event, and go to Indivisible Jackson's facebook page (scroll down a bit) for complete video - excellent speeches by Byron Elam, Chair of the Madison County Democratic Party, Cindy Boyles (Indivisible Jackson, MCDP), Harrell Carter (NAACP), and others. ARMCHAIR ACTIVISM IS OVER -- WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED!
Come to the south side of the County courthouse on Baltimore street. Bring a sign (make one!), wear a t-shirt, bring candles - but mostly, bring as many people as you can get to come along with you!

May 19, 2017: Unity Rally, to protest Franklin Graham's Decision America Rally - we went inside and were INDIVISIBLE!
We met in front of the hospital for a candlelight vigil to support Healthcare as a Human Right. LOTS of people honked in support!
